I wouldn't call this book a dictionary per se, as it is not in alphabetical order, nor is it in chronological order, or any other order that I've figured out. Having said that, I really enjoy this visual "dictionary" of the current Dr. Who. The graphics are phenomenal and it's really fun to read all the snippets of information with each photo. There's even a fold out page for the TARDIS. It's very up-to-date, which is hard to do when a series is still in production. The cover is fantastic with 3-D images and the current Doctor appearing and disappearing in front of the TARDIS. It is chock-full of photos of every conceivable aspect of the re-booted TV series. As such, it doesn't include much on the classic series. There is a page for Sarah Jane Smith and one for K-9, but I assume that is because they made an appearance on the rebooted series. There is also a "sidebar" on pages 14-15 containing photos of all the past Doctors and why they regenerated, which is too little information on the classic series. All-in-all I would heartily recommend this exquisite photo-packed volume to any fan of the current Dr. Who series.

I have bought several Doctor Who books & 'dictionaries' lately & this is definitely my favorite! It's a hardcover with a beautiful, lenticular cover; is full of high-quality pictures, and basic facts about the current Doctor, Clara & the characters they've encountered (that only a few recent books would have). It makes a perfect present for Whovians, especially fans of the newer Doctors! :)The only 'negatives' (sort of) are the facts that it's a 'Dictionary,' so doesn't have in-depth summaries, commentaries or explanations about the epidodes, and focuses on Peter Capaldi (the newest, 12th Dr), Matt Smith & David Tennant. So if you're looking for a comprehensive book about the first 11 doctors, the older 50th Essential Guide, Doctor's Lives & Times, etc would be a better fit. As mentioned, only a few recent ones will cover Peter Capaldi (2014 & 2015 seasons).So it's a beautiful, 'fancy' hardcover that's perfect for Doctor Who fans who would enjoy BASIC, FUN FACTS WITH TONS OF GORGEOUS PICTURES about the newer Doctors, their companions, and other characters+monsters that they meet. The topics are NOT in alphabetical order, but the Table of Contents on pages 4&5 provide a full list of what's covered in the 173 pages (prior to the Index & Acknowledgments).It includes info & pictures on the Doctor's different anatomy/organs (ie. 2 hearts, brain), regenerations, sonic screwdrivers & other 'tools,' THE TARDIS (there's a pull-out section), River, the UNIT, the Master, companions (including Sarah Jane Smith & K9), other characters (Danny Pink, Captain Jack, Madame Vestra, Jenny, Strax), and different monsters, species, planets, space stations (tons on Daleks of course, Weeping Angels, Cybermen, the Jagrafess, Prisoner Zero, the Alliance, Star Whale, Krillitanes, Peg Dolls, Smilers, Kahler, Karabraxos, Half-Face Man, SS Madame de Pompadour, Skovox Blitzer, Satellite 5, Platform One, etc).Keeping this copy & planning to buy more as gifts! :)

Disappointed. Very good book overall, but the title is pretty misleading. This doesn't even begin with the Ninth Doctor who rebooted the series. It's all 10, 11, and 12. Good content, certainly. Talks about their enemies and companions. I had hoped for something encompassing the series- at least the whole of the new series, but also had hoped for the original portion to be represented as well. A good book, to be sure. But know it's not as expanded as you might hope.

This is a brilliant way to find a good, concise who's who and what's what of the Doctor Who universe.And, they do update them every couple years.The price isn't bad for the size of the book, and the pages are full of goodies with a couple "fold-outs" that are marvelous.The lenticular cover makes the doctor appear and disappear in front of the TARDIS...well done.I'd recommend this for any fan of the good Doctor.

We are all Doctor Who fans at our house so we've all been reading this book. Very cool book for Whovians! The cover is one of the coolest 3d holographic pictures I have ever seen, it looks like you should be able to reach out and touch the pictures. Inside the amazing hardback cover isn bunch of high quality pictures and descriptions of all kinds of Doctor Who stuff to keep a true fan happy.

For a newbie to the Dr. Who series this is a great find. It has been a great help in filling gaps due to earlier episodes I missed. Well illustrated and very comprehensive as far as I can tell. I found everything I have looked up (~20). One caution though, if you haven't seen all the episodes, beware the "spoilers".

A wonderful book by a very talented chef. My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a cooking class this past summer with Chef Denise Marchessault at a health spa in Mexico called Rancho La Puerta. It was an awesome experience. We bought her book as soon as we returned home. The recipes are delicious and easy to follow, offering a variety of tastes, dishes, and cuisine styles. But one of the things I love most about this book is the fantastic photography and design layout. It really compliments the recipes and brings them to life. A beautiful piece of art. And it's plenty practical too.

I can clearly remember the breathtaking scenery, and now I get to enjoy their delicious food through this gorgeous book.There is so much to love in this cookbook, from the delightful recipes to ingenious tips and tricks. I love to make my own bone broth to use, but I’d never though of using flexible muffin tins to freeze it into more manageable portions. Love this idea! Or how about Garlic Poached in Oil. You can use the garlic just as you would fresh garlic in recipes, and the now flavored oil is perfect for salad dressings, bruschetta, etc.As for the recipes themselves, they’re divided by season and from there they are divided into savory and sweet. We’re heading into winter, so it’s a perfect time for a Rustic Beef Stew–soooo good! Or how about what is probably my favorite recipe in this book, Chocolate Hazelnut Tarts for dessert?Baked Eggs are popular in my house, and these kick it up a notch with a multitude of seasoned fillings to choose from. Gougeres (Cheese Puffs) are amazing and well loved at my house as well. Of course, for comfort food, you can’t miss with classic Chicken Pot Pies.British Columbia From Scratch is an absolutely delightful book. I’ve loved reading it and cooking from it and I am more than happy to recommend it. Give it a try–I’m sure you’ll love it!I received a copy of this book from Whitecap Books for my honest review. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the series, and cannot wait for each new book. But, I recommend to my friends that they skip the first book and start with Two or Three. They'll meet the characters just fine without the first one.In my opinion, the first book is too 'raw.' The sex and violence are too graphic. To me, it seemed that the author wasn't certain what sort of book she wanted to write. By the second or third in the series, she hit her stride and got more comfortable with her own characters and genre. But the first in the series just isn't comfortable in its own skin.Enjoy the series, though! It's a hoot! I live in NJ and work in Trenton, and love the "local" references.

It is just a good time wrapped up in a ball and transported to the 90s. A time when New Jersey was known for garbage and hydrocarbons and people still had answering machines and no cell phones….YES we used to live like that.Stephanie Plum is a fun character and this was a pretty good introductory book with funny shenanigans as she tries to figure out how to be a bounty hunter. She makes some pretty big mistakes that lead to a little bit of hilarity along the way. She is easy to like and I had a good time hanging out with her as she learns the ropes Eliza Doolittle style from a guy named Ranger that I could help but picture in my head as Dog the Bounty Hunter.A few things I liked:①- The Nostalgia I felt for the 90s② - The hinted at future romantic interest *crosses finger* I really liked Morelli and hope they ‘Play Train’ sooner rather than later.③ - Crazy Shenanigans i.e. hitting the boy who took your virginity and didn’t call with your car a few years later. (don’t worry he was okay)④ - Crazy Grandma’s. I love funny and ridiculous family members so this fit the bill well⑤ - Totally creepy psychopaths. The messed up in the head bad guy is a bit deranged and pretty scary.Definitely and easy fun and funny read with a little drama and suspense.

With fast scene changes and a main character that is both frivolous and fun, this book is a good one for pure enjoyment, for just kicking back and going with the flow. Stephanie Plum makes decisions on the fly, with not much concentrated intellectual effort, but that suits the environment and job function she finds herself in. She is a Jersey chick that finds that she must sometimes do things that are totally out of character and in steep contrast with her upbringing. Her breaking of tradition, her negation of her past regimentation, makes this story fascinating and worth the time for its perusal.Adapting to frightening situations with sometimes bold innovation and an absence of timidity, Stephanie is both a risk taker and one who hedges her bets along the way with subtasks that assist in sustaining her financially as she seeks to attain her major goal. This goal is to capture an acquaintance, a guy she ****ed in her younger years, and who has skipped bail on murder charges and seemingly wants to prove his innocence.Along the way Stephanie steals his vehicle, discarding the jalopy she started off with, and encounters unsavory and purely evil characters that make the reader want to enter a bathroom for a date with the commode. But Stephanie deals with the creeps and bums that enter into her circle of protected space and decrease its radius with skill and daring, and for readers who admire such traits in a woman, especially male readers, a voluntary sharing of their personal space would be both natural and desirable.

Fabulous series. I've read every book and can't wait for the next one. I recommend starting with this one and going through the entire series in order. Stephanie Plum and her family are wonderful. I bought this so I would have it on my Kindle as well as in hard cover. Worth rereading. Stephanie loses her job and can't find another one. Just about broke, she blackmails her pervert cousin, Vinnie, to hire her as a bounty hunter. She is the most inept bounty hunter and also the luckiest ever. Her first big assignment is bringing in Joe Morelli, her former flame and the guy she ran over when he didn't call. Add in her Granny, who looks like 90 and acts like 20 and her mentor, the super hot bounty hunter, Ranger. Mix this all in with Jersey attitude and you have an amazing result. I hope Evanovich keeps writing. I need my regular fix.

This slice of a Trenton NJ girl falling into a career as a bounty hunter is funny, realistic, far-fetched, gritty and charming. Stephanie Plum is out of work, out of appliances and finds herself "employed" as a bounty hunter by her seriously disturbed cousin, Vinny. Going after the big bucks finds her face-to-face with her old flame/nemesis and while she is lucky, she doesn't have the skill to bring him in. Caught up in investigating a murder, and stalked by an insane boxer who likes to hurt women, she is over her head. Let the chaos ensue!
